Authen::TOTP versions before 0.1.1 for Perl use Perl's built-in rand function to generate secrets, which is predictable and insufficient for cryptographic security. This vulnerability (CVE-2026-46473) results in insufficient entropy during secret generation, potentially allowing attackers to guess or reproduce TOTP secrets. The CVSS score is 7.5, indicating high severity with network attack vector and no required privileges or user interaction. No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available from the vendor. Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates and consider alternative secure TOTP implementations in the meantime.
