Apache Solr: Authentication bypass possible using a fake URL Path ending (CVE-2024-45216)CVE-2024-45216
0

Apache Solr contains an authentication bypass vulnerability (CVE-2024-45216) affecting versions from 5.3.0 before 8.11.4 and from 9.0.0 before 9.7.0. The issue arises in Solr instances using the PKIAuthenticationPlugin, which is enabled by default when Solr Authentication is used. An attacker can append a fake URL path ending to any Solr API URL, causing the request to bypass authentication while still conforming to the API contract. This fake ending is stripped internally after authentication but before API routing, allowing unauthorized access. Fixed versions 8.11.4 and 9.7.0 address this vulnerability.
