The issue involved incorrect assignment of the max_register field in the regmap configuration, which caused reading from the regmap via debugfs to potentially trigger a kernel segmentation fault. This could lead to system instability or crashes. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 6.8.0-1055.56 and related builds.
