CVE-2026-13218: UNIX Symbolic Link (Symlink) Following in Red Hat Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization 4CVE-2026-13218
0

CVE-2026-13218 is a medium severity vulnerability in Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization 4 involving symbolic link (symlink) following in KubeVirt's virt-handler network cache handling. The WriteToCachedFile function writes data to a launcher-rooted path without symlink protection, allowing a user with access to the virt-launcher container to plant a symlink that causes virt-handler to overwrite arbitrary host files and change their ownership.
