A memory leak vulnerability was identified and resolved in the Linux kernel's regmap maple subsystem. The issue occurs when regcache_maple_write() allocates a new block ('entry') and attempts to store it with mas_store_gfp(); if mas_store_gfp() fails, the allocated 'entry' is not freed, causing a memory leak. This vulnerability has been addressed in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0 and later. The vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 5.5 and impacts availability due to the memory leak. A patch is available and included in multiple updated Linux kernel packages distributed by Ubuntu. Users should update and reboot to apply the fix. No known exploits are reported in the wild.
