This can lead to significant memory pressure and potential denial of service during TLS handshakes. The issue arises because large memory allocations occur while caching X.509 extensions, which can crash clients or servers under concurrent connections. The fix delays processing of CRL distribution points until necessary, reducing memory usage. The vulnerability does not affect the FIPS module and no known exploits are reported.
