CVE-2026-4111: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') in Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10CVE-2026-4111
0

CVE-2026-4111 is a high-severity vulnerability in the libarchive library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.19. It involves an infinite loop triggered during the decompression of specially crafted RAR5 archives via the archive_read_data() function. The archive appears valid and passes checksum validation, making detection difficult before processing. This flaw can cause persistent denial-of-service conditions by consuming CPU resources indefinitely. Red Hat has released security updates addressing this issue in OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.29 and related packages. Users are advised to apply these updates promptly to mitigate the risk.
