A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS3 filesystem driver can cause an infinite loop during file write operations if a certain internal 'valid' value does not update correctly. This issue was identified when the 'valid' value remains the same within a processing loop, potentially causing the system to hang. The problem is addressed by adding a check to detect repeated 'valid' values and terminate the loop with an error code.

Adding a check for the valid value within the loop body, and terminating the loop and returning -EINVAL if the value is the same as the current value, can prevent this.
