A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's EDAC/versalnet subsystem was fixed. The issue involved the device name allocated via kzalloc() in init_one_mc() being assigned to dev->init_name but never freed on normal device removal, causing memory to leak. The fix replaces dynamic allocation with a stack-local char array for the device name. This vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 5.5 and does not impact confidentiality or integrity but affects availability due to memory leak. Multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and related builds are affected. A patch is available and included in updated Ubuntu kernel packages.
