In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: futex: Drop CLONE_THREAD requirement for private default hash alloc Currently… (CVE-2026-52973)CVE-2026-52973 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel futex subsystem related to the CLONE_THREAD requirement for private default hash allocation has been resolved. The issue involved incorrect assumptions about concurrency when sharing memory mappings (mm) in ways other than pthread semantics, leading to use-after-free bugs. This could cause kernel memory corruption and crashes. The vulnerability has been addressed by loosening the check to cover any CLONE_VM clone except vfork, preventing the race conditions. Red Hat has released security updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and 10 to fix this issue. The updates require system reboot to take effect. Red Hat Security Advisory: kernel security updateCVE-2025-40237 0 Red Hat has issued a security advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. The update addresses six distinct security issues affecting kernel components such as filesystem notification, SCSI core, rtnetlink, IPv6 networking, futex, and device mapper logging. These vulnerabilities have been rated with an overall high severity impact. The advisory provides updated kernel packages to remediate these issues for various architectures and editions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.
