An unauthenticated attacker can hijack any Pimcore admin account by exploiting a password reset URL injection vulnerability. The attacker supplies a malicious resetPasswordUrl during a password reset request, causing the server to generate a valid recovery token appended to the attacker's URL. When the victim clicks the emailed link, the token is sent to the attacker, who can then authenticate as the victim with full admin privileges. This attack bypasses two-factor authentication because token-based login explicitly disables 2FA. The vulnerability affects Pimcore Studio Backend Bundle versions prior to 2025.4.6 and versions from 2026.1.0 up to but not including 2026.1.6. A patch is available to remediate this issue.
