The Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2026-45859 concerns the netfilter nfnetlink_queue subsystem where a regression caused packets to be dropped if an application did not set the 'F_GSO' capability flag and received a GSO packet with an unconfirmed nf_conn entry. The check for shared-unconfirmed connection tracking entries was performed after skb_gso_segment(), leading to exclusive ownership issues and packet drops. The fix moves this check to before segmentation and annotates segments to enable a second check at reinjection time, preventing packet loss during normal in-order reinjection. This vulnerability affects multiple Ubuntu 22.04 LTS kernel builds prior to version 6.8.0-1057 and related variants. The issue is part of a broader set of Linux kernel security fixes released by Ubuntu in July 2026.
