In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ethtool: module: avoid leaking a netdev ref on module flash errors… (CVE-2026-63997)CVE-2026-63997 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ethtool module was resolved that involved leaking a network device reference during module flash errors. The issue was due to missing undo operations for setting an "in_progress" flag and taking a netdev reference in the module_flash_fw_schedule() function. This fix delays these operations to prevent the device from disappearing while holding the rtnl_lock. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 07/19/2026, 18:31:48 UTC Added: 07/19/2026, 19:38:18 UTC |
