The mms114_interrupt() function reads touch data into a fixed-size buffer but does not check if the packet size exceeds the buffer capacity. This can lead to overwriting critical stack data such as the stack canary, saved registers, and return address. The issue arises from trusting a single device register byte for packet size without an upper bound check. The vulnerability has been resolved by rejecting oversized packets and dropping the report to prevent buffer overflow.
