In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: fix memory leak in xfs_dqinode_metadir_create() If xfs_metadir_create()… (CVE-2026-64356)CVE-2026-64356 0 A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's XFS filesystem was identified and resolved. The issue occurs in the function xfs_dqinode_metadir_create() when xfs_metadir_create() fails, causing allocated update and transaction state to leak. Additionally, if a subsequent commit fails, an inode reference is left unreleased. The fix routes failure paths through xfs_metadir_cancel() to properly release resources, mirroring existing unwind patterns. This bug was confirmed present in Linux kernel version 7.1.1 and was detected using an experimental memory-management analysis tool. Runtime validation confirmed the fix prevents mount hangs and inode reference leaks during quota-enabled mounts on XFS metadirs.
