A use-after-free (UAF) vulnerability was identified and resolved in the Linux kernel's letsketch HID driver. The issue arises because the driver lacks a .remove callback to properly stop and drain a per-device timer before device unbind or removal, leading to the timer firing on freed memory. This results in a UAF read and subsequent operations on freed input device structures. The fix involves adding a .remove callback that stops the hardware and synchronously drains the timer to prevent it from firing after memory is freed.
