In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: writeback: fix race between cgroup_writeback_umount() and inode_switch_wbs()… (CVE-2026-64378)CVE-2026-64378 0 A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's writeback subsystem has been resolved. The issue occurs due to a race between cgroup_writeback_umount() and inode_switch_wbs()/cleanup_offline_cgwb() during container exit, which can trigger a kernel BUG related to busy inodes after unmount. The root cause involves a timing window where inode references are mishandled, potentially leading to use-after-free conditions. The fix extends the RCU read-side critical section and adds synchronization to ensure proper ordering of operations during unmount. No known exploits are reported. No specific affected versions are provided. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 07/25/2026, 12:31:33 UTC Added: 07/25/2026, 23:08:59 UTC |
