In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: add a permission check for FSCTL_SET_ZERO_DATA FSCTL_SET_ZERO_DATA in… (CVE-2026-64398)CVE-2026-64398 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component allowed an authenticated SMB client with only FILE_WRITE_ATTRIBUTES permission to zero out file data without having FILE_WRITE_DATA rights. This occurred because the FSCTL_SET_ZERO_DATA operation lacked a proper per-handle permission check, permitting unauthorized data destruction. The issue has been resolved by adding the required permission check to ensure only handles with FILE_WRITE_DATA can perform this operation.
