0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component allowed clients to overwrite destination file data without proper permission checks. Specifically, the FSCTL_DUPLICATE_EXTENTS_TO_FILE operation lacked necessary share-level and per-handle write permission validations, enabling data overwrite on read-only shares or handles with limited write attributes. This issue has been resolved by adding appropriate permission checks requiring FILE_WRITE_DATA access for this operation.
