In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mfd: cros_ec: Delay dev_set_drvdata() until probe success If ec_device_probe()… (CVE-2026-64420)CVE-2026-64420 0 A use-after-free vulnerability was identified and resolved in the Linux kernel's cros_ec driver. The issue occurs because the driver sets a device driver data pointer before the probe function completes successfully. If the probe fails, the memory for the device structure is freed, but the stale pointer remains accessible to sub-drivers, leading to invalid memory access. This vulnerability could cause kernel crashes or memory corruption when sub-drivers access the freed memory. The fix delays setting the driver data pointer until all initialization steps succeed.
