A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ACPI CPPC driver caused undefined behavior sanitizer (UBSAN) warnings due to misuse of a field whose meaning changes based on context. Specifically, the reg->access_width field is interpreted differently depending on reg->space_id, leading to potential out-of-bounds shift operations. This issue has been resolved by validating the region type and access_width value before use, preventing the UBSAN warning and correcting the handling of bit widths.
