This occurs when the receiving device has no upper-master adjacency, leading to a kernel panic and potential denial of service. The issue arises specifically during bond slave release when the upper-master adjacency is dropped before clearing the IFF_SLAVE flag, causing a fault when accessing master->flags. The reach guard only checks netif_is_bond_slave().
