These flaws involve improper handling of Common Name and DNS Subject Alternative Name (SAN) matching, including truncation at embedded NUL bytes, acceptance of mismatched Common Names when DNS SANs differ, and incorrect IP address matching. This allows an attacker with a trusted or misissued certificate to bypass server identity verification, undermining TLS server authentication.
