A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c imx driver related to SMBus block-read operations has been fixed. The issue caused the I2C bus to become locked when a block read with a byte count of 0 was attempted via the atomic (polling) path. This path rejected the request with an error but failed to send the necessary NACK and STOP signals, causing the bus to remain stuck until a power cycle. The problem also affected reads where the count exceeded the maximum allowed block size, similarly leaving the bus locked. The fix ensures proper NACK and STOP signaling to release the bus in these cases.
