A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's OCFS2 filesystem was resolved by adding a NULL check in the ocfs2_checkpoint_inode() function. The issue occurs during unmount when the journal pointer is freed and set to NULL, but subsequent inode eviction code attempts to dereference this NULL pointer, causing a potential crash.
