In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: 9p: skip nlink update in cacheless mode to fix WARN_ON v9fs_dec_count()… (CVE-2026-72170)CVE-2026-72170 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's 9p filesystem client was resolved by skipping nlink updates in cacheless mode to prevent warnings and race conditions. The issue arises because v9fs_dec_count() calls drop_nlink() even when the inode's nlink is zero, which can occur due to a race in cacheless mode where the client refetches authoritative inode metadata from the server. This can trigger warnings and cause nlink races under heavy unlink workloads. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 08/15/2026, 06:32:14 UTC Added: 08/15/2026, 15:53:25 UTC |
