In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/ntfs3: bound attr_off in UpdateResidentValue against data_off In… (CVE-2026-72195)CVE-2026-72195 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS3 filesystem driver was resolved involving improper bounds checking in the UpdateResidentValue function. This flaw could cause an integer underflow leading to an incorrect data size value, potentially resulting in reading up to 4 GiB beyond the intended memory region. While an existing defense mechanism catches this corruption during full attribute walks and fails the mount, other code paths that read attribute data size without re-validation remain vulnerable. The issue has been fixed by validating offsets against data boundaries at the source. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 08/15/2026, 06:32:15 UTC Added: 08/15/2026, 15:53:24 UTC |
