0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter nft_fib module could cause a NULL pointer dereference on the netdev egress hook. This occurs because the fib expression dereferences a NULL pointer on the transmit path, leading to a fault during evaluation. The issue arises from improper validation of hook numbers, allowing an egress chain to pass validation incorrectly. The vulnerability has been resolved by adding stricter validation functions that correctly limit fib expression usage to appropriate hooks and protocols.
