The issue involved improper handling of read-only page frame numbers (PFNs), where the kernel relied solely on guest permissions and did not enforce read-only constraints on the host side. This could lead to permission faults and a page leak. The fix ensures that the writability of the PFN is cached and enforced, promoting permission faults to secure exceptions when a guest attempts unauthorized writes.
