In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: s390: Initialize KVM_S390_GET_CMMA_BITS memory kvm_s390_get_cmma_bits()… (CVE-2026-72292)CVE-2026-72292
0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's KVM s390 subsystem allowed uninitialized kernel memory to be disclosed to user space due to improper initialization of a vmalloc buffer. This occurred because the buffer allocated by kvm_s390_get_cmma_bits() was not zeroed, and gaps in the buffer remained uninitialized and were copied to user space. The issue was introduced after switching to a new gmap implementation that only populated dirty pages, leaving clean pages uninitialized. The fix involved using vzalloc() to ensure the buffer is zero-initialized, preventing leakage of stale kernel memory.
