The flaw allowed a size value from the wire to bypass validation due to 32-bit integer wrapping, leading to a buffer overflow and potential kernel crash. This issue affects only 32-bit systems; 64-bit systems are not impacted. The vulnerability is a residual from a previous fix that addressed only the 64-bit case.
