0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client was resolved that involved an integer overflow in the bounds check of the passthrough ioctl response payload. The issue allowed a malicious SMB server to craft a response that bypassed bounds checking by exploiting 32-bit arithmetic overflow, potentially causing out-of-bounds reads when copying data to userspace. This vulnerability was fixed by changing the bounds check to correctly handle overflow conditions.
