In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm era: fix NULL pointer dereference in metadata_open() metadata_open() returns… (CVE-2026-72316)CVE-2026-72316 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device mapper era metadata handling was fixed. The function metadata_open() could return NULL on allocation failure, but the caller era_ctr() only checked for error pointers, not NULL. This led to a NULL pointer dereference when the metadata was accessed. The fix changes metadata_open() to return an error pointer on allocation failure, preventing the NULL dereference.
