In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/x86/amd/core: Avoid enabling BRS from the SVM reload path Branch Sampling… (CVE-2026-72325)CVE-2026-72325 0 A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's perf subsystem for x86 AMD processors was resolved. The issue involved enabling Branch Sampling (BRS) from the SVM reload path incorrectly, causing a general protection fault (#GP) on processors that support Last Branch Record (LBR) but not BRS. This occurred because the kernel attempted to set a deprecated BRS enable bit in a model-specific register. The fix prevents BRS from being enabled during event selector reprogramming even when LBR users are active.
