A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's TLS implementation was resolved involving the handling of zero-length TLS application_data records. TLS 1.3 permits zero-length records as a traffic-analysis countermeasure. The vulnerable function tls_sw_read_sock() mishandled these empty records by repeatedly requeuing them, causing a stall that blocked subsequent records on the connection. The fix involves recognizing and consuming empty data records before processing to prevent this stall.
