The issue arises because a buffer allocation function returns a non-NULL pointer for zero size, bypassing error checks and resulting in a fault during stats reporting. The vulnerability has been resolved by allocating the buffer based on a maximum channel count to ensure a non-zero allocation and by improving cleanup to prevent double-free errors.
