The issue involves an unsigned integer underflow when concurrent truncation occurs during writeback, causing io_size to wrap to a large value. This can mislead append detection and corrupt completion-time size handling, affecting filesystem end_io decisions such as on-disk EOF updates and unwritten/COW completion ranges. The fix clamps io_size to zero when EOF moves to or before the ioend start offset, preventing the underflow while preserving intended behavior.
