A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's network PHY SFP driver was resolved. The issue involved improper freeing of an allocated I2C MDIO bus structure during module removal, causing a resource leak. This leak occurred when a copper or RollBall SFP module was removed via hot-removal but not during driver unbind. The fix ensures that the allocated bus is properly freed to prevent the leak.
