A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's hwmon subsystem (pmbus/core) was resolved that involved incorrect handling of the vrm_version in the pmbus_data2reg_vid() function. The function hardcoded the VR11 encoding regardless of the configured vrm_version, causing drivers using non-VR11 VID modes to send incorrect voltage codes to the PMBUS_VOUT_COMMAND. This could result in regulators or hardware monitoring voltage output setters applying dangerously wrong voltage levels. The fix aligns the write behavior with the read behavior to honor the vrm_version properly.
