In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix use-after-free of conn->preauth_info in concurrent SMB2 NEGOTIATE… (CVE-2026-72422)CVE-2026-72422 0 A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd SMB2 NEGOTIATE handler was resolved. The flaw involved concurrent SMB2 NEGOTIATE requests on the same connection causing a race condition where a shared connection state pointer (conn->preauth_info) could be freed while still being accessed, leading to a use-after-free read. The issue was fixed by serializing access to this shared state with a connection lock to prevent concurrent access during free and read operations.
