0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Btrfs filesystem code caused an invalid pointer dereference in the __btrfs_run_delayed_refs() function. This occurred due to improper handling of an error pointer returned by btrfs_select_ref_head(), leading to a spin_lock operation on an invalid pointer. The issue was introduced after a code refactoring removed safeguards that previously prevented this condition. The vulnerability has been resolved by restoring the lost checks and ensuring proper pointer handling and loop control.
