The flaw allowed malformed fast symlinks with invalid size or missing NUL termination to be processed, causing out-of-bounds reads. This could lead to memory corruption or kernel crashes. The fix rejects zero-cluster symlink dinodes whose size exceeds the inline fast-symlink capacity or whose payload is not properly NUL-terminated, preventing malformed symlinks from reaching the read path.
