0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ocfs2 filesystem was resolved by adding validation for fast symlink targets during inode reads. The flaw allowed malformed fast symlinks with invalid size or missing NUL termination to be processed, causing out-of-bounds reads. This could lead to memory corruption or kernel crashes. The fix rejects zero-cluster symlink dinodes whose size exceeds the inline fast-symlink capacity or whose payload is not properly NUL-terminated, preventing malformed symlinks from reaching the read path.
