In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dma-fence: Fix potential tracepoint null pointer dereferences… (CVE-2026-74418)CVE-2026-74418
0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dma-fence component could lead to null pointer dereferences in certain tracepoints. This issue arises when tracepoints dereference a null fence->ops pointer after it has been reset during fence signaling. The problem affects trace_dma_fence_signaled, trace_dma_fence_wait_end, and trace_dma_fence_destroy functions. The vulnerability has been addressed by using safe string getters for most tracepoints and adjusting the order of operations to preserve driver and timeline name information. Additionally, a new tracepoint class was introduced to handle cases where the signaled bit is already set and to ensure safe operation without holding the RCU read lock.
