A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) on OCP hardware has been resolved. The issue involved an over-read of the EEPROM board ID, which is a fixed 13-byte field that may not be null-terminated. Improper handling of this field as a C string could cause reading beyond its boundary. The fix limits the formatted output to the fixed length of the board ID to prevent over-read.
