A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rtl8723bs staging driver was fixed to address an out-of-bounds (OOB) read in the rtw_get_wpa_ie() function. This function reads bytes from a vendor-specific information element without verifying that the element is sufficiently long, potentially causing reads beyond the allocated buffer. The issue arises because rtw_get_ie() does not enforce a minimum length for the element body, allowing short elements to trigger OOB reads. The fix adds the necessary length check to prevent this.
