A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IP Virtual Server (ipvs) subsystem was resolved. The issue involved stale IPv4 option metadata after rebasing tunnel ICMP errors, which could cause a stack out-of-bounds write during ICMP packet processing. This was due to the ip_vs_in_icmp() function not clearing IPv4 options after rebasing the skb, leading to improper handling of timestamp options in the outer IPv4 header. The fix clears the stale option metadata after resetting the network header to prevent this unsafe memory write.
