The issue involved launch-time metadata extending beyond the first 16 bytes of the struct xsk_tx_metadata, potentially causing improper handling. The fix rejects requests when the registered metadata area does not contain the complete field and snapshots validated flags to avoid inconsistent processing if user space changes flags concurrently. This vulnerability has been addressed in the kernel source, with further commits planned to improve metadata flag handling.
