The issue involved improper handling of IRQ enabling and disabling during wait timeouts in the i2c_nuvoton_wait_for_stat() function, which could leave IRQs enabled incorrectly. The fix ensures IRQs are disabled on wait timeout and preserves the original error code on interrupted waits.
