A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dm-pcache component has been resolved. The issue involves the cache_pos_decode() function, which processes persisted tail-position offsets. An attacker with CAP_SYS_ADMIN privileges could supply a segment offset (seg_off) that is at or beyond the segment's data size, leading to an out-of-bounds read. The fix involves rejecting any decoded seg_off values that are not strictly less than the segment data size.
