A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMC (Shared Memory Communications) subsystem was resolved. The flaw occurs in the smc_rx_pipe_buf_release() function where a socket state is checked before acquiring a lock, allowing a race condition that leads to dereferencing freed memory. This happens because the connection can be concurrently closed, freeing resources that the release function still accesses. The fix involves acquiring the socket lock before checking the connection state and using a freed flag to prevent unsafe access.
